It's a *beautiful* swatch! It could be made into a tiny little "shrug" for either a tiny little granddaughter or a Teddy Bear.

Who says, "What a small world!" Six degrees of separation? Hell no! It is definitely 3 degrees! We had no idea you and Steve might be related. We think he's a great guy and guess what? His log cabin builder called this morning. You may have noticed the black and white truck parked at the rear of Insel Haus all winter. It is the builder's truck! He's coming to the island today in his own boat. I'll pick him up at the dock and once again, he and his truck will be reunited. Building will continue.

What a blog! The great thing about your writing is that it is merely an extension of you speaking. Maria's story is wonderful. All parents of teenagers will relate to it and recognize what a wonderful trip the two of you had.

'til the madness starts!

Thanks for the great letter and pictures about your winter trip. I am building a log cabin near Lake Thompson on land I bought from Shelby and Christa. I have never been to Bois Blanc in the dead of winter but hope to spend some time there in the winter when my cabin is done. Thanks again- Steve Sheridan

Two posts in one day? Be still my heart! Great pictures, loved seeing Mariah dance. The ice really fooled me, too, I thought it was clouds. Too bad about the shawl, but good for newbies to learn that even the Master goofs now and then. Maybe it would be a nice burp cloth for a grandbaby?

I was a student of weaving at Greenfield Village, back in the late 60's/early 70's. Mrs. McAllister (spelling?!) was the teacher at the time. She was marvelous. I gifted to her a tapestry I made when I was about 9 years old and she donated it to the Village. It is a tapestry weaving of a turtle. It was still there last I looked some 20 years ago, and I wonder if it still is there. This weaving did win a blue ribbon at the Village Country Fair. When I saw it last, my name had been lost but the ribbon and year and my age at time of weaving were intact. I was so complimented that it was still being shown I didn't bother to give my own attribution.

I do want to say that the weaving program so many years ago was fantastic and Mrs McAllister was really very special.

Mrs. McAllister was an amazing person, so full of patience and gentle excitement. She accepted a new weaver at the age of 8 and thrilled me for many years. She taught me so much and at the tender age of about 10 she gave me the privilege of learning to warp and design as well as teach and assist her with young people visiting from other countries.

I hope her generosity of spirit and artistry have not been forgotten.
